In 2013, I had the privilege of spearheading the organization of a landmark event, celebrating Huawei’s significant acquisition of Caliopa. This acquisition amplified Huawei’s influence in the realm of silicon photonics research, and the celebration marked this major advancement.
Held on October 10, 2013, in Brussels, the meticulously planned event celebrated the integration of Caliopa into Huawei’s expansive European R&D network. Through acquiring Caliopa, a spin-off from the globally acknowledged Photonics Research Group, Huawei opened new avenues for the commercialization of cutting-edge research in silicon photonics.
Throughout the event, we highlighted how the Caliopa acquisition is set to leverage Huawei’s global platform and network, translating pioneering research into tangible benefits for telecommunications service providers, cloud computing, and enterprise data centers.
The event saw the participation of significant figures, including Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander de Croo, further emphasizing the gravity of this step towards future projects between Belgian and Chinese companies. By successfully organizing this event, we not only celebrated a significant milestone in Huawei’s journey, but also underscored our commitment to continuous innovation and global cooperation.
